2023 SHOULD BE ABOUT CHARACTER AND COMPETENCE SAYS AMOBI OGAH

“2023 election will not be like any other election. The 2023 election will be about Character, Competency and Integrity and not about deceptions any longer, our people deserve to live better”. This was a statement made by the Labour Party flag bearer for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Chief Amobi Ogah today, 3rd December, 2023, at the Uturu Political Summit organized by the leadership of Uturu Development Association. 

Amobi Ogah noted that  ahead of 2023, candidates should be assessed by their antecedents and not by their words. He exposed that Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency have been shortchanged in the socio-political scheme of things. For instance,  available data from Zonal Intervention Program (ZIP) allocation shows that aside other allowances, the Incumbent House Member, who have held office for 16 years got around Six hundred and seventy Six million naira (676,000,000) for the execution of only ZIP projects in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi in year 2022 alone. Unfortunately, the value for such acclaimed projects are not in anyway commensurate with the realities on ground. In 2023 alone, 150 million naira was given to the House Member for Solar street light. Yet, the people cannot  see the existence of such projects, neither have they felt the impacts of the huge budgetary allocation.

Amobi noted that people cannot give what they do not have. Stressing that, those who could not deliver good and  credible governance in time past do not deserve to be rewarded because the constituents will continue to suffer the implications most. Amobi continued that across the 22 wards in the constituency, there is need for electorates to change the narrative because enough is enough. He promised to be a speaking Representative whose voice will resonate positively in so many ways, including, lawmaking for economic advancement, tangible projects across all communities, security of lives and properties, youth and women empowerment amongst others.
